While the use of asbestos has declined since its dangers were recognized, it was once a prevalent building material in Ohio and nationwide, used by companies ranging from construction to automotive manufacturing. This organization has announced its 13th Annual International Asbestos Awareness and Prevention Conference. The event will feature nearly 40 experts, among them scientists, doctors, and victims of asbestos exposure. It is the only annual conference whose sole purpose is to eliminate diseases cause by asbestos and prevent future exposure.
Asbestos has recently been included on the EPA’s list of the top 10 high-risk chemicals. As said best in a quote by an asbestos awareness advocate and mesothelioma patient, “asbestos destroys innocent lives.” The conference hopes to raise awareness of the issue and its impact on families.
Even today, people continue to develop symptoms linked to past asbestos exposure that may have occurred decades before.
