Far too many residents of Ohio only now are finding themselves diagnosed with mesothelioma and other asbestos-related illnesses after decades of working in manufacturing jobs all over the area. Sadly, they are not the only ones to suffer this fate. A couple in another state has filed a lawsuit against several manufacturers, alleging that the husband’s lung cancer is due to his asbestos exposure as an employee of the companies named in the suit.
The recently filed complaint lists as defendants Borg-Warner Morse TEC LLC, Aurora Pump Co., CBS Corp., Armstrong Pumps Inc., et al. The husband was employed as a welder at Pullman Standard from 1964 to 1980. Per the claim, it was during his employment that he was exposed to asbestos from products manufactured, sold or distributed by the defendants.
As a result of his inhalation of the asbestos fibers, he was diagnosed with an asbestos-induced form of lung cancer in March 2017, per the complaint. The plaintiffs seek to hold the defendants responsible for including the dangerous asbestos fibers in their products despite the availability of adequate substitutes. Furthermore, the defendants purportedly failed to provide any warnings or instructions about the dangers of working with products that contained asbestos.
The plaintiffs are seeking a trial by jury and claim damages in excess of $50,000 for the asbestos-related injuries. Like the plaintiffs in this case, anyone in Ohio who is suffering from cancer or other illnesses related to asbestos exposure because of a company or employer’s apparent negligence can discuss their options for justice with an asbestos litigation attorney.
