Grief counselors have been made available at several schools in Ohio following a single-vehicle wreck that resulted in the death of two young people. Two others were also injured in the wreck, and the victims may later decide on a personal injury claim as an appropriate course of action. The driver who caused the wreck has not yet been identified, although authorities have noted that the driver will have to deal with felony charges once located. Felony charges are not at all atypical in car accidents that involve fatalities where the driver also fled the scene.
Shortly before 2 a.m., the driver of a vehicle carrying four additional passengers apparently lost control, veered off of the roadway and collided with a nearby utility pole. Two passengers — an 18-year-old senior in high school and a 21-year-old — were killed in the wreck. The other two passengers were injured and required medical treatment at area hospitals.
Although the driver’s identity is still a mystery, Ohio police believe that the driver was a male. They have also reported that the possibility of alcohol playing a role in the accident is still in the realm of possibilities. However, attempts at tracking down the driver — including using K9 police dogs — have been unsuccessful so far.
The loss of young lives is often a blow that is felt throughout the community, affecting more than just the families of the victims. However, it is the families of the injured and fatal victims that typically end up shouldering the financial and emotional burden of devastating car accidents such as this. There are typically options to pursue compensation for a personal injury or wrongful death once a driver and/or any separate owner of the vehicle involved has been identified.
