An Ohio city is demanding that safety improvements be made at a dangerous intersection. According to data from the Medina County Sheriff logs and the Ohio State Highway Patrol, an increase in the number of automobile accidents at an intersection in Sharon Township has prompted calls for action. In 2015, three accidents occurred at the intersection; in 2016, the number of crashes was five.
Most recently, a pickup truck full of teenagers crashed after the driver apparently failed to yield to oncoming traffic. Despite the fact that the teens were said to be wearing seatbelts, the accident landed all four of them in the hospital. Their updated medical conditions were not reported.
An investigation has been reopened regarding the intersection after this most recent accident. It appears that many of the accidents there occur when drivers fail to yield to oncoming traffic. Currently, the intersection is a two-way stop. While signage was increased last year, locals are now pushing the county to convert the intersection into a four-way stop or install a flashing light.
