Causes of Ohio car accidents not always immediately apparent

  |   May 29, 2017  |  Car Accidents

The reasons for car crashes are not always immediately apparent or clear cut. Some car accidents may be a result of multiple factors that all added up to a “wrong place, wrong time” scenario. Sometimes, both drivers are at fault, sometimes neither. Occasionally, even after a police investigation, it’s impossible to determine what, exactly, led to the crash.

In other situations, though, the cause of a car accident is immediately apparent, as seems to be the case in a recent Ohio collision. At approximately 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, two SUVs crashed into each other at an intersection near a middle school. According to police reports, the collision occurred after one of the vehicles ran a red light.

One of the SUVs was flipped onto its roof and the other came to rest on its side. Thankfully, to date, none of the accident victims have died, but two of those involved were sent to the hospital. The third individual was arrested.

Reports indicate that the man who was taken into custody had outstanding warrants; it is unclear at this time whether he was arrested for running the red light and causing the collision. While criminal charges and civil lawsuits are two separate domains, evidence presented in criminal cases involving car accidents can often be used as grounds for pursuing a personal injury suit against a perpetrator. Any Ohio drivers or pedestrians who have suffered injuries due to the fault or negligence of another may wish to seek the legal counsel of an experienced attorney, as successfully presented cases may result in the award of monetary damages to help cover incurred medical expenses and more.
