Intersections are a primary location for car accidents

  |   Aug 29, 2018  |  Car Accidents

Just about every road in Ohio sees crashes at some point. However, intersections tend to have a larger than normal amount of car accidents. This is the place where traffic control devices are prevalent, but some drivers fail to adhere to them. Accidents range from minor fender benders to severe wrecks in which people suffer serious injuries or lose their lives.

For instance, a 66-year-old woman died in a recent accident at an Ohio intersection. Reports indicate that at about 5:15 p.m. on a Thursday evening, the woman failed to yield at an intersection. Her vehicle ended up in the path of an SUV headed through the intersection. The woman who died never left the scene alive.

The occupants of the other vehicle, a 53-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl, both survived the crash. However, the woman suffered serious injuries for which she was transported to an area hospital. The girl suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, and she was transported to Dayton Children’s Hospital. Officials do not believe that speed, alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash.

Even so, that does not preclude the woman and the family of the little girl from filing personal injury claims against the estate of the deceased driver. Providing the court with evidence supporting a contention of negligence on the part of the other driver could result in an award of damages. Any restitution coming from such a judgment could help with the financial losses that invariably accompany serious car accidents.
