Cleveland – On August 8, 2018, Kelley Ferraro Partner Ryan Cavanaugh, and Associates Edward J. Kelley, III, and Joyce Chambers Reichard received a verdict of $8,291,000 in a mesothelioma lawsuit against Union Carbide Corporation for compensatory damages caused by Danny Genet’s (deceased) exposure to Union Carbide’s asbestos fibers that were used in Georgia Pacific’s joint compound.

Trial began on July 23, 2018 in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas before the Honorable Judge Harry A. Hanna. The Cuyahoga County jury returned a verdict on August 8 after 4 hours of deliberation.

Danny J. Genet was a career electrician who was exposed to Georgia-Pacific Ready-Mix from 1969-1977. He contracted mesothelioma on August 11, 2016 and died on August 17, 2017 at the age of 68. Dan leaves behind his wife Brenda, and his three boys Dan Jr., Chris and Russ.
