Fatal accident on Ohio highway likely alcohol related

One man has died as a result of a fiery crash on an Ohio highway. Two other men suffered injuries in the accident that, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol, was likely influenced by alcohol. A few men at the scene were able to cut the 20-year-old possibly impaired driver from his seat belt soon after the car caught fire. They used fire extinguishers on the engine to keep the flames at bay until they were able to rescue him from the burning vehicle.

A witness stated that he was on his way to work in the early morning hours and saw the Ford Fusion driving erratically. He called the police and lost sight of the car momentarily. When he saw the car again, it had been involved in a head-on crash with a Chrysler LSH. The 29-year-old passenger in the Chrysler died a short time later at the hospital. The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. All three men were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.

Police are investigating whether the driver of the Fusion, who is under the legal drinking age, is in the country legally. They are also investigating to discover if the Fusion had been stolen.

Victims in vehicle accidents such as this one often incur a lot of expenses. There are typically medical bills, lost wages and vehicle repair costs. Many times, victims seek to recoup some of their losses by bringing a lawsuit against the responsible driver for personal injury or wrongful death. A personal injury attorney may be able to find a possible avenue for victims to recover from their injuries or grieve without having to worry about the financial aspects of the accident.
